FILM HOUSTON is named after the city known as home to NASA’s spacecraft mission control center. It is where astronauts radio in from far yonder:

“houston… houston… do you copy?”

Houston not copying you is bad news. Why? Because for those in deep space far from home, the communication line with the control center is akin to the umbilical cord tethered to mother’s womb. Houston feeds them knowledge, guides them in times of peril. It is what makes them stay alive.

But it is also what gives them the reason to risk their lives for something larger than themselves.

Houston is a symbol of what we all need in life: a force that drives us to test our limits of possibility. It is what makes us visionary and risk takers.

And that’s what filmmakers are.
